SEAT BELT SAFETY DAY

Seat Belt Checkpoint

Mariemont Patrolman Gary Copeland stops a vehicle arriving at the Mariemont High School Seat Belt Checkpoint. Like most of the students who were stopped, this driver was in compliance with Ohio’s Seat Belt Law.

On May 8, 2007, members of the Mariemont Police Department, along with representatives from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, working in conjunction with Mariemont City Schools, conducted a Seat Belt Checkpoint at the High School.

The purpose of the program was Seat Belt Awareness. The checkpoint served to remind students of the importance of using their safety restraints. Of approximately 200 vehicles stopped, only about a half dozen of the drivers had failed to use their seat belts. Those who were wearing them, received a coupon for a free pizza from Pizza Hut.
