Location

  • Mariemont City School District is located on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio and includes the villages of Fairfax, Terrace Park, Mariemont, and the unincorporated areas of Plainville and Williams Meadows. The district can trace its founding to April 14, 1879.

  • The Mariemont City School District consists of five schools. Total enrollment is 1,717 students. At the time of the latest annual report, the district employed 104 regular classroom teachers, teaching specialists (art, computer, music and physical education) and six special education teachers. There are three elementary principals, one junior high principal and one assistant principal and principal at the high school. General administration consists of the superintendent and treasurer.

Tradition of Excellence

  • Mariemont High School was the first and only high school in Ohio to receive the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Award three times- ’02, ’89, and ’85. The award is based on a comprehensive educational program including both academic and extracurricular offerings.
  • In the National Merit Competition, Mariemont High School has produced Commended Students, SemiFinalists and Finalists every year since 1959.
  • Since its inception, the State Report Card, issued by the Ohio Department of Education has awarded the Mariemont City School District the distinctive honor of receiving the highest rating of Excellent. This score places Mariemont in the top five percent of over 600 Ohio schools districts.
  • In the last three years, each graduating class has earned over $1,000,000 in college scholarships.
  • Mariemont School District is one of only three Ohio schools to have a direct link to the National Library of Congress through our Veterans History Project. This joint effort of students and staff video records interviews with local World War II, Korean and Vietnam veterans.
  • In ‘02-‘03, 93 students took Advanced Placement tests in twelve subjects. 89% of those students passed and are eligible for college credit. Four tests were passed by 100% of those students taking the test.

    The ‘02 Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition awarded a Mariemont High School student their Governor’s Award of Excellence for the first time in 22 years. From the 12,000 regional entries, only 25 are selected to receive this highest honor.
  • The ‘02-‘03 MHS Junior Engineer Technical Society team placed first in its division out of about 60 schools and fourth nationally. JETS competition promotes an interest in engineering, science, mathematics, and technology.
  • In the last three years, two district teams have competed at Destination Imagination World Championship, an academic competition based on creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Mariemont High School had five Golden Galaxy Finalists in ‘03, a regional honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement and community service.
  • Fifteen percent of the high school’s graduating classes earn the “cum laude” distinction, an honor determined by the academic grade average and college entrance exam test scores.
